As reported in the Oregonian, a drunken driver struck by another drunken driver is suing the first culprit for $1.6 million. The original drunk driver was being pursued by a sober driver who he struck moments before. The sober driver is also being sued.
The plaintiff’s passenger, Stephen Person, was killed in the collision. The original drunk driver, Nathan Wisbeck, who was later sentenced to 7 ½ years in prison for the incident, suffered injuries in the second crash, but most of them were allegedly inflicted by three men who walked up to his vehicle at the scene of the collision and punched him repeatedly in the head.
A charge of vehicular homicide is serious and a conviction leads to a substantial term in prison, regardless of which state the accident occurs in.
